Parker vs. the side table (Parker won)

Parker tripped while we were at my parent's house a couple days ago. When he fell, he hit the leg of their side table in the family room. He hit it so hard that he cracked the table! We were worried that he would need stitches but my Aunt Anne came over who is an ER nurse and helicopter flight nurse. She thought it was a clean line and they rarely put stitches on the face. My mom ran to get some medical supplies (and ice cream, now that's a grandma!) and we had him fixed up in no time.

Right after he hit the table, Parker was screaming and didn't want to be held but Brett fought against him so he could stop the bleeding and put ice on his face. Once we started cleaning and dressing his face though, he sat perfectly still and fought very hard to stifle his cries. He was a brave little boy! These pictures were taken the next day.

Lately we've been finding Parker putting blankets on his face while he sleeps. He always has big bird in bed with him and will hold or cuddle him, but this was pretty cute and worth the risk of taking a picture!

Basketball Hoop, Cat Stroller and the Boy

Parker LOVES basketball. Everytime we go to my parent's house (where they have a sport court) he whines and begs to be outside on the court the entire time we are there. Usually Papa gives into the puppy dog face and takes him out. Also, when we are in the car, Parker can spot every basketball hoop we pass and says, "ba-ball, ba-ball!". Brett picked up this little basketball hoop from craigslist and Parker has enjoyed it. For some reason he thinks it's really fun to be in the cat stroller, so here he is doing two things he enjoys!

The other day, Parker and I were playing on the deck and I brought Reese out in her stroller to enjoy the sun. Parker wanted to get inside with her but I wouldn't let him, so this is what he did.

Sad Bear

I picked up this Halloween costume at a garage sale for my friend's kid. It was just the right size to try on Parker now, so I couldn't resist! I bribed him with three Skitttles, but he still wasn't too happy about it. But look how cute! Reminds me a little of A Christmas Story movie!

Mother's Day 2011

It was a good Mother's Day this year. Brett made me french toast and a candy bar poster. As you can see, I did some sharing with my candy bars.

My friend Ginger made me this corsage to wear at church, I loved wearing it! I would have shown me wearing it, but it broke later that day before I got a picture.

It's the most wonderful time of the year...

Between garage sale season beginning and warmer weather bringing our utility costs down, it's my favorite time of year!

Como Zoo

Parker wasn't impressed with the animals, but he found EVERY ball in each animal exhibit. The animals had balls to play with and Parker is OBSESSED with balls right now.
Parker also had a giant tantrum because he loves following strangers and wanted nothing to do with us. At church, I let it slide but the zoo is a different story.

We took our chances and postponed naptime for a picnic in the park by the zoo. It didn't pay off too well but Parker did have some fun.

He's all about eating and walking. Yahoo! I'm not strapped in my high chair!

Look what the doctor did to my baby's face!

Parker is now wearing glasses. It kinda breaks my heart, covering that sweet face with glasses. After a third check up with the ped. opthamologist, Parker's far sightedness was not improving and causing him to overcompensate when looking near, which made him cross his eyes. The crossing was starting to become a habit and if continued untreated, he would have impaired vision and need patching and/or surgery by the time he was 3 years old. We also have some family history of strabismus and ambyopia which made us want to treat now to prevent these things. He should grow out of needing them in 1-2 years.

It's been a hassle to keep the glasses on and keep Parker from breaking or scratching them. We are bribing him with his Easter candy for now. He did wear them through most of church today. I was also happy that no other kids in nursery tried to grab them. The clinic said it may take two weeks to a couple months to get him wearing them all the time.

Easter 2011

Here is Parker and I before church. I bought his outfit on clearance last year and I should have bought a size bigger, oops! Brett was sick but found the strength to come to dinner later.
Here is the family. Brett is behind the camera, Parker was sleeping and my uncle and cousin walked in the door about a minute after we sat down (they were golfing and had told us not to wait- just wanted you to know we are not that rude).

We are lucky that my mom likes turkey and others like ham, so my mom got both! There was a lot of good food.

Easter Egg Hunts

Parker the bunny! Earlier in April, Brett took Parker to a city Easter Egg Hunt with some friends. I was at Time Out For Women with my mom. The weather was beautiful!
Parker wasn't into the eggs, he just wanted to chase the running kids.

This is the ward Easter egg hunt. I underestimated the cold weather and all of us were freezing! Poor little Parker was shivering.

Even a head start for the nursery kids didn't entice Parker to the eggs. Maybe next year. In his defense, neither of the hunts he went to had eggs with candy in them. They left the eggs empty and at the end, every child got a bag of goodies. I think if he had known there was candy to be had, it would had motivated him. We also took him to a hunt at Cabela's which was totally not worth it and we didn't take pictures.

Parker's first time with brownie batter. He loved it! I had to teach him how to lick, but he picked it up really quick! What a champ!

Meet Peat and Repeat

Sometimes we get bored when Parker wants us to build duplos with him. I was finally kinda excited to build this, but Parker kept tearing the letters apart as I made them. I felt like such a little kid as I pushed him away so I could finish. I whined to Brett that Parker was messing up my toys. Man, I'm such a baby.

Parker has been mimicing Brett and I for months now. It is usually very cute, unless of course he is copying our bad habits, then it is just humbling and slightly annoying. This picture is from March when Brett was going into work later than usual for some training. Parker was sooo excited to eat breakfast with Daddy. He wanted to sit at the table just like him.
