Minnesota Moment: A brisk walk outside

The temperature here was around 30 degrees today, about 40 degrees warmer than last week (and that's without the wind chill). This inspired Parker and I to venture outside. Here is Parker in front of the snow pile in our driveway (a.k.a. Brett's nemesis).
We came upon a teaching moment. Parker learned the importance of avoiding yellow snow.
Not sure if he liked it or was too stunned to cry.

He is the cheese to my pizza

A couple weeks ago, Brett and I decided to be big spenders and get a Pizza Hut pizza due to a good deal they had and a pizza fix that could not be ignored. Since we were going all out, I wanted the pan pizza, a personal favorite which is only indulged every couple of years. Brett wanted deep dish pizza. We both stated our reasons for which one is better. During this process we started to wonder how two people so different could ever manage marriage. Deep dish, pan pizza, two different pizzas and someone was going to have to compromise. I felt the need to give in this time. Most of the time I feel like Brett and I are so compatible, with many of the same likes, needs, and goals. I felt strangely disconnected to him at that moment but wanted to make him happy none the less. After all, Brett does many nice things for me (i.e. always sharing his food and always letting me put my cold feet on him in bed, really). So I called pizza hut and said I would like the deep dish pizza. And then to my wonder, the worker said, you mean the pan pizza?

I wish, my husband wants deep dish.

But mam, deep dish is pan pizza, they are one in the same.

what?

This strange disconnection was actually another connection between us? How could I have ever faltered and felt this way?! Of course we like the same pizza! He is my soul mate! And is an instant I went from feeling like I had made a sacrifice because we were so different to feeling so happy that we were so similar!

Now we have this inside joke that whenever we start talking about this way to do something, or that way, one of us will laugh and say, I guess we are just too different- you like pan pizza and I like deep dish! haha!

Parker's Poses

Parker's Sexy Pose

Parker has been very social and smiley lately. He is rolling over and his bottom two teeth are getting closer to popping out! He giggles more but prefers his happy squeel- which Reese is not fond of but is getting used to. He loves his play saucer and sitting in his bumbo to watch mom and dad in the kitchen. He started rice cereal last week and is good at swallowing. He recognizes when we are getting his food ready and he has a hard time waiting for it. He is much easier now than ever before! We love him oodles and oodles!

The Wet Christmas Cat Update

The Christmas tree is down and Reese had dried out for the time being. She never did get her naughty under control. But Santa gave in for moments like this picture so Reese did recieve her beloved wet canned food on Christmas.
For his first Christmas, Parker made out with this loot. He was never naughty and makes us more happy than seems fair.

Parker, Reese and the jumper

This was Parker's first time in the jumper. Reese was being curious and you'll have to watch to see what happens. My mom thinks we should send it in to America's Funniest Home Videos, what do you think?

Christmas 2009- A very white Christmas

After working a 12 hours shift, Brett met us as my parent's house for the traditional Christmas Eve fondue dinner. Parker is sporting his Christmas PJs.
Things got a little crazy when we opened our crackers. We told everyone to make a silly face for this picture...how dorky are we?!

Christmas morning, we let Parker decide when we would get up. I think he got up around 7 and we got ready and headed back to my parents. We had a big storm that night and it was still snowing on the way there. We take back roads to my parent"s and the white country side was beautiful.

I think a family photo would look nice at this barn, by the fence.

We arrived around 9 am and woke my dad and brother up with Parker and his Santa hat.
Here he is with my Grandma Barb. She made a crock pot breakfast casserole and we also each had our own box of sugar cereal (an old Hanberg tradition).

It was a great day as usual. We spent the rest of the day eating, playing DJ Hero, watching a movie and eating.

The Man

Last night as I made dinner, peas were my veggie of choice. Knowing Brett would have none of that, I made him green beans and felt very doting about it. But during the consumption of dinner, I took notice that indeed there were no green beans on the man's plate. The lecture followed (as he knew it would) but he interrupted me with a proud look upon his face saying, "No, don't worry, I ate the corn!"
Still feeling under-appreciated about cooking the beans, I had to inform him that corn is a grain, not a vegetable. He was stunned and swore that corn was a vegetable, even pulling a can of corn from the pantry in hopes of proof (there was none). So we bantered back and forth a bit light-hearted and finally let it go.
But then, later in the evening we began to read the scriptures. Brett was reading and came to a verse which read, (Mosiah 7:22), "...to the amount of one half of our corn, and our barley, and even all our grain of every kind..."
Ladies and gentlemen, I am here to tell you that victory is sweet. My grin was probably bigger than is should have been, but I didn't say it (I didn't have to). And here is the greatest part of the story, Brett laughed just as hard as I did. What a guy, I love him so much. (but it would do him well to eat more vegetables)
