Baby Houdini

Last month, when Parker started sleeping in his crib at night he would roll out of his covers. When we tried his Halo sleeping sack, his arms and hands would be FROZEN at night. I always wanted to check on him to see if he was warm. I couldn't sleep well thinking he was cold and since all the spring pajamas were in the stores, I decided to put him in his fleece snowsuit at night. It worked great, it keep him all warm, even his little hands. Then this week, Brett got him out of bed and found his as pictured above. He had crawled out of his snowsuit (still zipped all the way up!) and then he pulled another blanket that was hanging over the crib over himself! What the..?! Weird, right? I still don't know how he slipped his whole body out of there without the zipper coming down.

Copeland Concert!

We went with my sister to the Copeland concert on Monday. We scored some good seats on a couch with an ottoman. That helped pass the time with the first three bands until Copeland played. We tried to fit in with the Dinkytown crowd (right next to the University of MN) but with no tattoos or beer and being about 7 years older than everyone else didn't help. The concert was fun but that was the longest I had ever been away from Parker and my chest was the size of Texas by the time I got home to pump (sorry if that's TMI!)

Last Sunday we went for a walk and Parker cried when we tried to take his sunglasses off, usually he doesn't like wearing them. I try to have him wear them outside because he doesn't like being in bright light. We found out later from his pediatric behavioral opthamologist (who I work for) that his cones are very "blond" and cause him to be sensitive to light. We also found out that Parker is a little far-sighted and is high risk for lazy eye and needs to be seen again at one year, rather than the normal three year appointment. His vision is 20/60 right now, which is above average (my child is a genius!). We knew he might be high risk for lazy eye since it runs on both sides of our family. For those of you in Minnesota, your baby gets a free appointment for the Infantsee program and should be seen around 6 months and then three years. There are problems that can be treated early and easily when children are young. Dr. Hadler is the BEST! And no, I don't get any benefit from you bringing your children in, I've just seen kids that can start to go blind or have tracking problems that usually get diagnosed as ADD or reading issues instead of vision problems that can be fixed with vision therapy or simple home exercises. OK, I'm off the soapbox for now.

...Pubert. O.k., that will only be funny if you've seen one of my all-time favorite movies, Addams Family Values. TONS of great quotables from that movie. Anyway, Parker's prune mustache reminded me of Pubert and I had to post it for Jason.

Thanks to Uncle Tom for being the family events coordinator and food preparations manager. It seems hard to get together but when Uncle Tom says he is cooking and all we have to do is show up, somehow everyone makes it! Happy Birthday to Brittany and Ethan. We can't wait for the next time so we can meet Sarah and Josh's soon-to-be addition!
