Around Here: July- Early August 2013

Parker likes to pick out his own clothes now, well I guess he always did but he is much more creative and less persuaded now. The church clothes bother me a lot but I try to let him win every once in a while.
Fun Aunt Courtney turning a diaper box into Lightning McQueen.
 Tent time
Tate got a "toddler fracture". My dad was holding him up to shoot a basket and when he came down his leg bent funny against my dad's arm. It didn't seem like that should break it but the doctor said that is typical around this age. He kept the soft cast on for several days. They said he didn't have to wear anything but when we went home the first day he would wake up crying from bumping it so we went in and had them wrap it. He was more comfortable this way.
Tate was not happy that he couldn't walk for the first 5-7 days. He was allowed to walk, but it hurt him. So, he learned to crawl again. After the first week things were pretty much normal, he just had a limp for 4 weeks.
Tate kept eating Parker's play doh so I thought I would be a fun mom and make chocolate play doh.
After the time and mess of making it, they NEVER PLAYED WITH IT! Arg! They just ate it, straight up. It would have been easier to just give them a treat than to go to all that work.
 Oh well, they are cute.
Tate was freaking out because he saw a ball on the screen.

Tate loves to drink his cereal milk

I'm so glad they play together!

Making cookies has become a problem. Both boys can NOT wait till they are done. The suspense leaves one or both in tears.
They love looking at pictures and videos of themselves.

 Reese's favorite new sleeping spot.

My favorite summer outfit of Tate's
Tate had a little too much fun with his yogurt.

 Sleepy hair
After no real results at community swim lessons last year, we bit the bullet and paid triple for the fancy swim school that everyone loves. TRIPLE the price, but guess what? Parker is SWIMMING!
Grandma Barb gave the boys these candy necklaces with CARS on them! So fun. and messy.
 Super baby!
He is definitely faster than his parents...we get a lot of exercise chasing him!
 Monkey see, monkey do.
Cozy time! AKA, mom's five minute break (before Tate loses interest).

Independence Day 2013

We had a great Fourth of July, packed with fun and some firsts for Parker. It started with a bike parade and breakfast with the ward.
Everyone loved Parker's Berg bike from Uncle Matt. Lots of kids wanted to try the steering wheel!
Giving Eli a ride on the back to the Berg.
Parker loves a good hearty breakfast, he was so excited for pancakes.
 The whole fam
We came home to change and get ready for the lake house. As we were packing the car, the ice cream truck pulled up and Parker got to try ice cream truck goodness for the first time (they usually come during nap time). Tate was still napping so he missed out, poor guy. Tate did get to try some later in the summer but I didn't get a photo.
Parker wanted batman ice cream with bubble gum eyes. He has recently been really into Super Heroes like Batman and Superman even though he has never seen a show with them before. He learns it from his friends at church. It really cute to see him love all things boy.
oh yeah! It was cherry flavored, I may or may not have asked him to share :)
Then we went to Anne and Kevin's lake house and the weather was perfect.

Parker and Courtney in the kayak.

Me, Parker and Courtney tubing. This was Parker's first time. We went really slow, I think he enjoyed it but he kept his face down because he didn't like the water spraying his face. The water was really warm which made me happy because I can't stand cold water!
 Sarah, Nana, Courtney
 That's the life.
Kevin with Tate in the front kayak and Brett with Parker in the back kayak.
Parker has been asking for a while to try fishing. He finally got a chance!
This was Parker's first time fishing.
Luckily, there are plenty of fish waiting to eat by the Horn's dock.
Success! Also, Parker has entered the cheesy/anything-but-natural-smile phase of childhood :)
Fire pit with sparkler and fireworks.
Tate wanted a turn in the driving seat of the boat.
